6000 Aluminum is an aluminum alloy that uses magnesium and silicon as its alloy components. Referred to as the architectural alloy, it has good general mechanical properties and relatively high tensile properties. It is heat treatable for strengthening and weldable with excellent finishing characteristics. 6000 series is weldable by all conventional methods and its machinability is average.  It is highly resistant to corrosion. Some common applications for 6063 include door frames, store fronts, window frames, trim items, roofs, sign frames, furniture, pipe railing, etc.
